Outage Center

Report an Outage: 800-236-2141

If you are experiencing an outage, we likely already know because your meter should have automatically reported it. However, members may call to confirm at 800-236-2141. When calling after hours our third-party call center will be able to confirm your account, take the information and dispatch a crew.

There are some instances where the problem is on the member's side of the meter, which does not automatically report.  Before you call to report an outage, please check your breakers - both in your home and near your meter (if applicable).  If we dispatch a crew to your location and the trouble is found to be on your side of the meter, there will be a charge for a service call.

Members are encouraged to sign up for notifications of outages through SmartHub.

During an Outage

  1. Never go near a power line!

  2. Check your fuse box or breaker panel.
A blown fuse or tripped breaker is often the cause of a full or partial loss of electricity.  Remember, in some homes, there is a main breaker outside, along with the breaker inside the home.

  3. If your fuses or circuit breakers are fine...
Check with a neighbor to see if electricity is also off at their location.

  4. Call the Cooperative to report the outage.
Call Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative at (800) 236-2141.  Please have the name on the account, service address, and service map location.  This information can be found on your most recent bill.

  5. State the cause of the outage (if known).
If possible, describe the cause of the outage and its location to the best of your ability (e.g. tree across power lines, vehicle struck a utility pole, etc.).

Safety Tips

YOU play a vital role in helping our crews stay safe and reducing outages for yourself and your neighbors by taking these small steps:

  • Be Aware Around Power Lines. Keep an eye out for low-hanging power lines, downed wires, or crews working on lines. Never touch downed lines, report them to us immediately.

  • Respect Work Zones. Slow down and obey all signs when approaching utility work zones.

  • Drive Cautiously in all Conditions.  Be especially aware when road conditions worsen due to inclement weather and adjust your speed accordingly.  Outages can happen when vehicles slide off the road and hit poles and underground equipment.

  • Trim Trees Safely. Plant trees away from power lines. Regularly trim branches to maintain a safe distance from power lines.  If you see an overgrown tree near a line, contact us.

  • Call Before you Dig.  Always dial 8-1-1 before digging to have underground facilities mapped out on your project site.  This is a free service through Digger’s Hotline.

  • Clear Equipment Access.  Keep our equipment such as underground cabinets and transformers free from obstacles to ensure easy access.  Plant flowers and shrubs at least 10 feet from transformer doors and at least 4 feet from transformer sides.

  • Stay Connected.  Keeping your contact information updated when your phone number or e-mail changes helps us reach you quickly.
